Hearts for Haiti

Written by

An enterprising teaching assistant at the Blessed Sacrament Junior School in Aintree, Liverpool (home to the world famous Grand National horse race) took the commercialism around St Valentine's Day and matched it to our Christian need to help the people of Haiti. Thus Hearts for Haiti was born: children paid for a paper heart on which they could write a message of solidarity and support for the surviviors of January's earthquake.

Remembering 1st April 1934

Past pupils of the Salesian Missionary College, Pott Shrigley, gathered on 1st April 2009 to commemorate two very significant events which occured on that day seventy five years ago.

In 1934, Easter Sunday fell on April 1st, and in St Peter's Square in Rome our founder was canonised, declared by Pope Pius XI to be Saint John Bosco.

Salesians in Haiti

Written by

The terrible earthquake which struck Haiti at 16:53 local time on January 12th destroyed a large part of the capital Port-au-Prince and brought death and injury to thousands of men, women and children. The Salesians in the city were very badly affected by the disaster but are fully involved in the relief effort, with the support and prayers of the Salesian Family throughout the world.
