Retreat in South Africa

Fr Michael Winstanley, Provincial of the GBR Province, was invited to give the retreat to the South African (AFM) Province from 19th to 23rd August 2008. The retreat took place in the John Paul II Centre in Bethlehem, which is about 150 miles south of Johannesburg, and 25 priests and brothers participated.

Bethlehem, now an important farming and commercial centre, was so named by settlers in the 1840s because of its suitability for growing wheat, hence House of Bread. The Maluti Mountains, which mark the border with Lesotho, form a dramatic backdrop.
