UK-OZ Wiki

Salesian Schools on opposite sides of the world are using a 'Wiki' site to share in a project inspired by the World Cup football competition taking place in South Africa in the summer of 2010.

So far the schools involved are Thornleigh Salesian College Bolton in the UK and Salesian College Chadstone and Xavier College in Australia.

The groups are being asked to consider the question Which nation would Don Bosco support in the World Cup? They will then prepare an IT based presentation arguing the case for their answer. The presentations will be judged by Fr Fabio Attard, Salesian General Councillor for Youth Ministry. You can read more about the Project Outline on the wiki itself.

The project involves good use of information technology, evidence of collaborative working, a real understanding of Don Bosco's work, and a knowlege of countries competing in the world cup. With Fr Fabio Attard we wish 'Good Luck' to all the boys and girls taking part!

Footnote: The Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference (SACBC) has sponsored a special site 'Church on the Ball' which highlights the World Cup as an opportunity for spreading the faith. Fr Francois Dufour, Salesian Provincial in South Africa, is a member of the team which designed the site and has contributed several articles including 'The playground as holy ground', '13th June is World Cup Sunday' and '50 days left... Ke Nako*!'.
