Being Salesian Today

group

Close on thirty Salesian Cooperators came together from 1st to 3rd October at Savio House, Bollington, for their annual retreat.  This year's theme was "What does it mean to be Salesian today?".  Fr. Graham Forristalle SDB led the group in an exploration of our Spirituality, identifying particularly Salesian aspects of the Beatitudes.  Sr Kay Young FMA concentrated on the "Today" and urged each one to "dance" with God as an expression of Salesian celebration of life.

The Saturday mass provided a chance to honour Dominic Savio and Laura Vicuna, two teenagers who discovered the meaning of the Salesian charism and the "Good Night" that evening, given by Rachel Wood, one of the Savio Community, reflected on the need for flexibility and being non-judgemental.

Participants came from Glasgow and London and many places in between and, as usual on such occasions, they found great benefit and inspiration from simply being together.  All left agreeing that they had enjoyed the weekend so much and knowing that the ties of Salesian friendship had been strengthened.

Below are a few photographs taken during the weekend, mostly at tea time!
