[Editor's Note: Fr John Dawson died on 24th October 2003. May he rest in peace.]
On Saturday 13th July 2002, Fr John Dawson and Fr John Corcoran celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of their ordination to the priesthood. They were both ordained at Blaisdon on 19th July 1942. Fr Dawson taught for more than thirty years at Battersea and Chertsey, and more recently was chaplain to Sisters at a convent in Clacton. Fr Corcoran taught philosophy to the young Salesians at Shrigley, Blaisdon and Bollington, then taught at our secondary schools in Bolton, Chertsey, Bootle and Shrigley; he then went on to work as Parish Priest in Bollington and Military Chaplain and chaplain to Salesian Sisters in Cowley.
The jubilee celebration was, at their choice, a low-key affair centred around the Mass in the parish church of Our Lady Help of Christians, Farnborough, with members of their community and friends.
