Salesian Rectors meet in Bootle
Salesian Rectors from communities in England, Scotland, Ireland, Malta and Tunisia met in the City Learning Centre at Savio High School, Bootle, on 19th and 20th May 2003. They stayed at the Stella Maris Hostel for Seamen and enjoyed the hospitality of Fr Gerry O’Shaughnessy, Fr Sean Murray and the Bootle community at St James’ parish house. Mass each day was celebrated in the school chapel.
Sr Margaret Taylor FMM facilitated the discussions on the first day, which were on the theme of 'Endings and New Beginnings'. The Rectors looked at the transitions which Salesians encounter in their lives and the 'clearing of the ground' necessary when ending one stage of life and beginning another.
On the second day Fr John Dickson SDB gave a presentation on the role of the Rector in the documents of the 25th General Chapter. The final part of the morning was available for Fr Francis Preston and Fr Michael Smyth to deal with items of special interest to their respective Provinces.
