Monrovia under attack
The map below gives a rough idea of where the Salesians are working in Monrovia.
The Salesian Community House is in 8th Street. Fr Jose Valiplackal runs the parish of Our Lady of Lebanon and Fr Blamoh Harris runs the parish of Holy Innocents (Matadi). Fr Harry O’Brien is based at Matadi but as Vicar General looks after the Cathedral when Archbishop Michael Francis is away. Fr Larry Gilmore and Fr Jose live at 8th Street. The Archbishop’s residence is next door to the Salesian Community House.
From 8th Street to the Cathedral is about two miles.
As of 26th June the LURD rebels have made incursions into the Port and over the bridges towards the Cathedral and the UN and US Embassy buildings.
