After the War
In early October 2003, Fr Jim McGarry and Fr Joe Brown went back to Liberia to show the support of the British Province for the Salesians working in Monrovia. They wanted to see for themselves what damage had been suffered during the fighting and how the situation was developing since the arrival of the peace keeping forces.
As on previous visits, Fr Jim McGarry made good use of his disposable camera and he has kindly provided the captions for the photographs on this and the following pages.
Fr Larry Gilmore and parishioners at St Joseph’s Parish.
Cakes for sale after Mass to raise funds for the Parish.
Crossing the old bridge (scene of recent fighting) with West Point in the background
Bullet riddled buildings in Monrovia - but the people are back on the streets.
