“Moving On” is the name of a new pack for teachers of Religious Education presently being developed by a team comprising members of the Salesian Pastoral Support Team and teachers from Salesian High School, Chertsey and St John Bosco High School, Liverpool. Over the weekend 12th and 13th September a course was held in the Royal Court Hotel, Coventry to launch the pilot version of this pack. Teachers from all our Salesian schools were present together with the Provincials of the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. The teachers from Chertsey and Liverpool gave fascinating descriptions of their classroom experiences in tackling the sensitive issues of many factor that influenced the young people of today in making choices. The teachers present tested the exercises themselves (Many proved relevant to their own life experience) This very successful weekend convinced us that there is a great need for material of this kind not only in our schools but in our retreat centres. We are confident that “Moving On” will soon be published and will prove an invaluable resource for all who attempt to guide young people throw the troubled waters of adolescent choice.
