Jubilee Extension

Four years ago, Fr Michael Winstanley sent out a questionnaire to find out what improvements our users would like to see at Savio House. The suggestion which came up most often was to provide better recreational facilities for the young people who come to Savio for residential or day retreats.

On 02/02/02, in the year of the Golden Jubilee of Savio House,  the response to this suggestion reached its fulfillment. The Bishop of Shrewsbury, Brian Noble, blessed and opened the new Jubilee Extension to the ‘Mews’ building.  (Click here for the blessing prayer.) The new building provides indoor games facilities with room for two table tennis tables and two pool tables.

Bishop Brian thanked the Salesians for their work for young people in the diocese, and Fr Michael, the Rector, thanked the many people who had helped to plan and carry out the project.

In the pictures below we see the Bishop speaking with Fr Michael, Martin Rose (clerk of works) and Fr Tom Carroll (now retired), and a general view of the guests, including many of the volunteers who have worked at Savio House in recent years.
