Fr Christopher Heaps is the new Parish Priest
On the evening of Tuesday 20th May, 2003, Fr Christopher Heaps SDB was installed as the new Parish Priest at the Sacred Heart Church, Battersea. He succeeds Fr Peter Brealey, who will be moving to Chertsey after a short sabbatical.
Fr Christopher has worked as a missionary in Liberia, West Africa, and as Parish Priest and Rector of the SDB Community at Edinburgh. He has recently completed a Masters Degree in Peace Studies, specialising in Conflict Resolution.
The induction was conducted by Bishop Howard Tripp. Fr Christopher’s parents travelled down from Manchester for the occasion. The photographs below were sent by Maria Newey, who used to work at the Youth Office when it was in Battersea.

Bishop Tripp presents Fr Christopher to his new parishioners. On the bishop’s left is Fr Ernest Bonvini, the local Dean and PP of St. Boniface, Tooting. He is a past pupil of Salesian College, Battersea.
