Inauguration of the AFW Province
On January 5th 2004, Fr Riccardo Castellino took up his new appointment as the first Provincial of the vice-Province of AFW (English-speaking West Africa). The vice-Province includes Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Liberia, previously Missions of Provinces in Italy (IAD and ICP), Germany (GEK), United States (SUO) and Great Britain (GBR).

Fr Ricardo preceeded by a small boy carrying the carved ceremonial stool for his enthronement as a chief.
Fr Riccardo is enthroned as a chief by a local African Salesian Cooperator (also a chief) and Fr Valentin de Pablo.
Fr Harry O’Brien wearing a Don Bosco Shirt at the meeting of Provincials and Rectors in Accra which took place from 5th to 7th January. Fr Harry, together with the other Salesians working in Liberia, is now a member of the new AFW vice-Province.
