A Weekend to Remember!
On Saturday evening there was a special meal at which Don Chávez met local priests and members of some of the other religious orders working in Liberia.
On the right is Sister Barbara Brilliant FMM, whose graphic reports kept us aware of the horrific conditions in Monrovia during the last outbreak of civil war.
On the high table, Don Chávez is flanked by Fr Valentin de Pablo (Regional Superior for Africa, left) and Fr Riccardo Castellino (Superior of the AFW Vice Province).
On Sunday morning, before the 8.30 Mass at St Joseph’s parish church, Don Chávez is pictured with Dr Brumskin and his wife, neighbours of the Salesians in 8th Street.
Don Chávez presides in a packed church, at another wonderful Mass.
The choir at St Joseph’s helps to keep the Spirit alive!
It was indeed a weekend to remember, both for the people of Monrovia and, we hope, for our dear Rector Major. As in the prayer painted on the banners:
“May his visit bring God’s Peace”. |
