“All Alien” a 6-day training course organised by Don Bosco Youth-Net on the topics of migration and intercultural learning. The training course takes place in the Aktionszentrum Benediktbeuern (Germany) 20th-26th July2014.
Migration is a hot topic in Europe today: boat refugees arriving in Malta, young graduates from Spain moving abroad in order to find work, Roma travelling from Slovakia to Belgium, ... but also German students doing an Erasmus year in Slovenia, or Czech volunteers doing voluntary work in the UK. It does not matter which kind of group of migrants you are talking about ... all of them face a culture shock. Sometimes entering another culture even causes problems, both for the guest as well as for the host community. Intercultural learning is a perfect remedy to deal with these kind of problems.
Through the training programme you will explore different aspects of intercultural learning in a fun way. You will play informative games and get team challenges, but there are also moments to reflect, like with a visit to the historical sites of Dachau and through Salesian moments of reflection. The beautiful surroundings of the Aktionszentrum allow also outdoor activities or a cultural visit to the world heritage site of the monastery.
We are looking for participants who are active as volunteers in youth work organisations. If you participate we do not just want to give you a great week, we also want that you bring your experience to your local organisation.
