CHARITY ACCOUNTANT

Salary Range: At least in the range of £30,900 to £35,872  pa (DOE)

Are you a qualified accountant with a wide range of experience, looking for an exciting role

with the opportunity to progress?

 

This is an exciting, all-encompassing role, working as a Charity Accountant in a small friendly team. There is scope for the right candidate to progress within the Charity and to lead on the roll-out of computerised accounting across all our locations. On a day-to-day basis, you will ensure the effective administration of finances at the  Charity's Head Office and across the Charity as a whole.

 

You will be highly organised, motivated and methodical, with a keen eye for detail. You will be well able to work from basic bookkeeping through to the preparation and presentation of year end accounts. You will be proficient in the use of ICT (especially MS Office and Outlook) and ideally, will have experience in a similar role/s eg: preparation of accounts, Gift Aid, VAT claims, bank reconciliations and general administration. The ability to work accurately to tight deadlines and to take responsibility for the wide range of work is essential.

 

The Salesians of Don Bosco UK is the British Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco, an international Roman Catholic religious order, working with young people principally through education, youth work, retreat centres, parishes and outreach. The Head Office of the Registered Charity is based in Bolton and is a key support for the charitable work of the Salesians.

We are looking for an experienced Cook to work in our community house for elderly Catholic priests and brothers. Our Cooks are responsible for planning, coordinating and providing appropriate catering for the Community in consultation with the House Manager. You will work collaboratively with the existing Cook on a rota system, with joint responsibility for purchasing within a budget, stock rotation, food safety standards and general kitchen management.


You must hold a valid CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety, be able to work on your own initiative and be trustworthy. You will be well presented, have a friendly nature and be willing to work flexibly.

Due to a recent restructure and retirement we have now created the exciting new role of Assistant Carer/Housekeeper at our private community house of c. ten elderly Catholic priests and brothers.


You will be responsible for delivering personal enabling care to the residents, integrating core care values within all activities, to ensure and actively promote their independence and dignity through every care or social task. You will be required to work effectively within a small team on a rota basis to ensure that resident’s needs are met and that the home meets the highest standards of hospitality and cleanliness at all times.


You will be an experienced Carer with a ‘can do’ attitude to your work. You will be flexible, have high standards of hygiene as well as a warm, person-centred approach to caring. You will be familiar with using IT and MS Office packages.

 

The Salesians of Don Bosco UK is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post of Assistant Carer / Housekeeper is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such a satisfactory DBS Disclosure check will be required for the successful candidate.
