Salary: £18,116 per annum
21 hours per week

Bosco Volunteer Action (BOVA) is the UK overseas volunteering organisation of the Salesians of Don Bosco, a Catholic Religious order. It offers placements for post university students and other adults to serve the young and the poor, living and working alongside Salesian communities around the world.

We are looking for an experienced Animator to lead the project and continue developing it into the next phase. You will be a highly motivated, self-starting, innovative and resilient person, educated to degree level or equivalent, focused and committed to supporting our Christian aims and Salesian ethos. You will have an understanding of development issues and development education, excellent organisational and communication skills which will enable you to work with, train and develop both the volunteers and the project.

It will be an advantage to have an understanding of how religious communities live and work, experience of a developing country and working with young people.

You will be based at the Provincial House in Bolton, reporting directly to the Youth Ministry Delegate. A flexible approach is important in this varied role which involves some weekend work and travel in the UK as well as to host projects overseas.

Assistant Cook

£9.30 per hour
26 hours per week (No evenings)

Savio House is a Catholic Youth Retreat Centre which is situated right in the centre of Kerridge Ridge & Ingersley Vale in Cheshire. We offer residential and day retreats to groups and individuals of all ages.


We are looking for an experienced Cook to deliver high quality home cooked food using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients wherever possible, ensuring a special experience for all our guests and resident community, whatever their age and nationality.


You will be responsible for delivering a varied menu, taking into account special dietary requirements and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. In conjunction with the Cook you will have responsibility for purchasing, stock rotation, cleanliness, food safety standards and general kitchen management.


You must hold a valid CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety as a minimum, be able to work alone and on your own initiative and be trustworthy. You will be well presented, have a friendly nature and be willing to work flexibly.

Working hours: Sunday to Wednesday

9:00am to 1.15pm (Sun & Wed) 
9.00am to 6.15pm (Mon & Tue)
