John Bosco was born on August 16, 1815, in a small town not too far from Turin, Italy. His father died when he was two years old, and he was raised with tender love and firm discipline by his mother, Margaret. Inspired by a dream, John Bosco became a priest and dedicated his life to helping poor and abandoned young people. His philosophy of reason, religion and kindness formed the basic principle of his educational ideology.
