Summer's here, the days are getting longer, and June is the month when we celebrate Father's Day and Volunteers’ Week along with the summer solstice, midsummer and Wimbledon tennis tournament. This year is especially busy as we also celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Take some time out from the busyness of June to reflect and read some of the books we offer.

Blessed Carlo Acutis: 15 years of friendship with God

Umberto de Vanna SDB

Carlo Acutis, a Catholic Italian teenager who died in 2006, was a gamer and computer programmer who loved sport and the Eucharist. Pope Francis referred to Carlo as a model of holiness in a digital age. Carlo's life should teach today's young people how to properly use and enjoy technology, including the internet and social media.

Carlo is an 'unexpected saint', because he had all the characteristics of today's young people: a passion for life and IT, sport and friendship, and he also had a profound faith. Fascinated by eucharistic miracles, he began creating what would eventually become a website to catalogue and share the information with others.
