Forced out of Santiago by the revolution, Laura's family took refuge in Temuco. Following her father's sudden death, her mother then moved her young family from place to place to find work, eventually settling in a part of Argentina that, unbeknown to them, was being pioneered by the Salesians. Inspired by the Salesian Sisters, Laura dedicated her short life to helping others and in devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
