Memorial of Blessed Maria Troncatti

Blessed Maria Troncatti worked as a Red Cross nurse during the First World War, and in 1922, went to Ecuador as a missionary, where she cared for the Shuar people, serving as nurse, dentist, surgeon, catechist and evangeliser - a 'doctor for the body and spirit'.
She was killed in a plane crash on 25 August 1969.
