The 28th General Chapter of the Salesian Congregation, meeting at Valdocco, Turin, has renewed the mandate of the Rector Major to Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, for the period 2020-2026.

Don Ángel, 59, is from Asturias, Spain, and was ordained priest in León in 1987. In his former role as Provincial of South Argentina, he worked alongside the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Cardinal Bergoglio, who is now Pope Francis.

We promise him our prayers and support for the next 6 years.

Shortly afterwards, the General Chapter also elected Fr Stefano Martoglio SDB as Vicar of the Congregation for the same six-year period. Fr Stefano was born in Turin in 1965, and ordained priest there in 1994. He has served as Rector of the Mother House in Valdocco, and is currently Councillor for the Mediterranean region.
