"Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime." – Martin Luther King Jr.

At this special time of year, we have books to inspire and delight you. Accompany your little ones 'On the Road to Emmaus' or through 'Via Lucis: The Way of the Light'. Or perhaps, reflect with Fr Michael on the Gospel resurrection narratives in 'Alive'.

Looking back at WYD Panama, 2019

In January 2019, a small group of pilgrims from Salesian Youth Ministry GBR made the long trip to Panama, to join Pope Francis and millions of young people for the 16th World Youth Day (WYD) - the first to take place in Central America. Liam Parr was among them, attending his third WYD, and his short film allows us to revisit the excitement and the life-changing experience of this huge event.

In his film. Liam talks about the nature of WYD, and the 'Days in the Diocese' activities which enable young pilgrims to work together and to learn about their host country and its people.

World Youth Day was created by St John Paul II in 1985. At the end of WYD in Panama, Pope Francis announced that the next WYD would take place in Lisbon, Portugal, in April 2022. However, in April 2020, the Vatican announced that it will be postponed to August 2023, because of the Coronavirus pandemic and the potential consequences of the movement and gathering of young people and their families.
