"Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime." – Martin Luther King Jr.

At this special time of year, we have books to inspire and delight you. Accompany your little ones 'On the Road to Emmaus' or through 'Via Lucis: The Way of the Light'. Or perhaps, reflect with Fr Michael on the Gospel resurrection narratives in 'Alive'.

Lenten thoughts from Salesian Brothers - saying no to ourselves

In the second video offering reflections for Lent from Salesian Brothers, created by St John Bosco College Battersea, Br Augustine SDB offers thoughts on the importance of learning to deny ourselves during Lent.

He reminds us that we have the example of Christian heroes to help us in saying 'no' to ourselves, and that we actually gain benefits from the practice of self-denial, such as better willpower, and even a sharpening of our senses.

Making the effort to deny ourselves some small things in Lent can help us develop self-control in important areas of our lives, and to better understand where we need to work on this to enrich our lives all year round.
