"Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime." – Martin Luther King Jr.

At this special time of year, we have books to inspire and delight you. Accompany your little ones 'On the Road to Emmaus' or through 'Via Lucis: The Way of the Light'. Or perhaps, reflect with Fr Michael on the Gospel resurrection narratives in 'Alive'.

In Search of Angels

The Scottish folk group 'Runrig' sing a beautiful song called 'In Search of Angels'. 'Runrig' were a Celtic rock group formed on the Isle of Skye in 1973; in their songs and music, they reflect the Scotland that they love in a way that, for me, the 'Saw Doctors' reflect life on Ireland's West Coast. Both groups are worth a listen as they explore simple, eternal truths and events... Read More »

In Mark's Gospel we have the two amazing miracles as Jesus walks to the home of a local religious leader, Jairus. We see the cure of a woman and child (see Mk 5:21-43). Jesus meets Jairus, a synagogue official; he faces the dilemma of any parent with a dying child. On his bended knees, he begs Jesus to cure her; this loving father sees, in Jesus, one who wants the very best for humanity—one wants... Read More »

Today we meet my favourite Old Testament prophet, Habakkuk who has a very honest relationship with God. He has a faith that is tangible and humbling. He is able to praise and honour God in the most difficult of situations. In our own lives, there have been times when our faith has been tested in the most severe ways. We have been hurt and let down, often by those closest to us—those we thought... Read More »

The parable of Dives and Lazarus presents the extremes of great poverty and wonderful wealth in sharp contrast. In these past few months, we have seen the effects of global warming, as temperatures in the UK peaked at over 40c for the first time since records began. We saw how the infrastructure could not cope: rail journeys were cancelled, airport runways melted, some schools having to close early,... Read More »
