St David
Date: 1st March 2020
Known in his homeland as Dewi Sant, St David, Patron of Wales, (c500 – c589) is believed to have been born in in south-west Wales, the son of St Non, daughter of a local aristocrat, and Sant, Prince of Powys, whose father was King of Ceredigion. He founded several monasteries, and became the first Bishop of Menevia, the ancient diocese of St Davids.
Writing a long time after David's death, his biographer, Rhygyfarch, tels us David's last words were transcribes these as 'Be joyful, and keep your faith and your creed. Do the little things in life that you have seen me do."
Gwnewch y pethau bychain, "do the little things", remains good advice for us.
