On Saturday 5th November, Savio House celebrated 70 years of the Salesian presence. Past volunteers, parishioners from St Gregory's and past members of staff were all in attendance to remember their time at Savio House. Fr Martin Coyle was the MC for the event and reflected on the work of Savio House. There were also testimonies from various people, Fr Bernard Grogan SDB, Fr Hugh Preston SDB, Fr Michael Winstanley SDB, Annabel Clarkson, Sr Gill McCambridge FMA, all shared on the history and work of Savio House and how it has changed and grown from being a retreat centre just for the Salesians, but growing so that it was also for the young people also. After the testimonies, the MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) was officially opened and blessed by Fr Gerry Briody SDB, the Provincial of the GBR Province.

During the same weekend, the SDB brothers in formation gathered for a formation event focused on the theme of "Salesians as digital citizens using social media/communications". This year the GBR Province plays host to 16 young Salesians, from 9 different provinces, at various stages of formation, from practical trainees to 3rd year theologian. Francis Preston SDB (Delegate of Formation) led the weekend with the support of Hugh Preston SDB and Martin Poulsom SDB.
