Las Posadas in Bolton

Las Posadas is a Christmas tradition that is typically celebrated among families in Spain, Mexico and other Latin American countries. It usually begins on the 16th December running through to the 24th, Christmas Eve.

The journey is a procession of Mary and Joseph as they go from house to house, being welcomed into each home. Mary and Joseph and the guests that are in that group will then enter the house and pray around the nativity scene. They will then continue their procession on to the next house, followed by musicians and the entire procession singing. At the end of the night's journey, the procession will sing Christmas carols, the children will break open pinatas and there will be a feast.

In Bolton and in some schools in the surrounding areas, this journey is being made. This journey started on the 17th November and will finish on the 19th December.

The journey started in the local primary school of Holy Infant and St Anthony
