'Make yourself humble, steadfast and strong…'

At the beginning of 2023, as we move closer to the bicentenary of the dream Don Bosco recalled having at the age of 9, we can recall the words he said were spoken to him by the resplendent lady in the dream.

In order to undertake the seemingly impossible task set before him, she urged him to make himself 'humble, steadfast and strong'. She also advised him that it was through gentleness and meekness that he would win people over, not least the young.

At this time of uncertainty and anxiety, when war and conflict rages around us and there are significant economic pressures, let us take these words to heart in being steadfast and strong in hope and faith while ensuring we exercise gentleness and humility in our Salesian vocation as parents, guides and educators.
