(ANS - Rome) - On the day of the Episcopal Ordination of Card. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Archbishop Titular elect of Ursona, and of Archbishop Giordano Piccinotti, Archbishop Titular elect of Gradisca, President of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA), ANS is pleased to announce the decree of "deroga" that the Holy Father Pope Francis sent to the Rector Major yesterday, 19 April 2024.

The Rector Major Card. Ángel Fernández Artime in his official communication informed the entire Salesian Congregation, and the Salesian family that the Holy Father, through this document of "Deroga", which in Italian indicates an "exception to what is legislated", has authorised him to continue his function as Rector Major for a few more weeks, despite having received the episcopal consecration. Therefore, he will conclude his service as Rector Major on the evening of 16 August 2024, after the celebration of the 209th anniversary of the birth of St. John Bosco together with the conclusion of the Youth Synod at Colle Don Bosco.
