Salesian College, Farnborough, in a spirit of devotion and service, embarked on a sacred journey to Lourdes in communion with the Hosanna House and Children's Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT). From Easter Sunday through the 5th of April, our esteemed Sixth Form students embraced this pilgrimage with fervour and compassion.

With hearts aflame with love and dedication, our students selflessly committed themselves to the noble cause of uplifting and serving children in need. Collaborating closely with HCPT, they endeavoured to enrich the lives of the young ones entrusted to their care. Animated by the Salesian ethos, they engaged with the family groups of HCPT, infusing joy and enthusiasm into various activities such as crafts, face painting, artwork, music, excursions, and dance.

Moreover, our students exhibited remarkable humility and altruism as they actively participated in the Eucharistic celebrations, adoration services, and rosary processions accompanying disabled and disadvantaged children and adults with reverence and compassion. They lent their hands to various services required by HCPT, extending their support beyond the call of duty.

The exemplary conduct and unwavering commitment of our students resonated deeply with all they encountered during this sacred journey. Their willingness to step out of their comfort zones and extend themselves for the well-being of others left an indelible mark, not only on the hearts of those they served but also on their own souls. As aptly articulated by our esteemed Head Master Mr Gerard Owens after this pilgrimage, "This sacred journey not only impacts the children whom you have assisted, but it also transforms you."

Indeed, this pilgrimage was a profound and life-changing experience for all involved. Through their sacrifice of the Easter break, our students and staff exemplified the true essence of servant leadership, embodying the Salesian spirit of selflessness and compassion. May the memories of this pilgrimage continue to inspire us all to live lives of service and devotion to those in need, in accordance with the teachings of our founder and father St John Bosco.
