"Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime." – Martin Luther King Jr.

At this special time of year, we have books to inspire and delight you. Accompany your little ones 'On the Road to Emmaus' or through 'Via Lucis: The Way of the Light'. Or perhaps, reflect with Fr Michael on the Gospel resurrection narratives in 'Alive'.

Thornleigh Mission Week - Dare to Dream

This week, Thornleigh Salesian College in Bolton, has been hosting its Mission Week.

The theme of the week "Dare to Dream", is centred around Don Bosco's dream at the age of nine, which the Salesians are celebrating the 200th anniversary of this year.

During the week there has been a Catholic Social Teaching expo. This was attended by the Salesian Vocations team, CAFOD, Caritas, Aid to the Church in Need, Million Minutes, Pax Christi, Mary's Meals, Salford Youth Ministry, Laudati Si Centre and the Destitution Project.

There have been talks from Dan Sargansion, who spoke to Students about his journey of self-discovery and mental health.
Saeed Atcha MBE, founder of Youth Leads UK, and the youngest person on the Queen's New Years Honours list in 2019, spoke to Year 9 students about his inspiration and reasons for setting up Youth Leads UK.
Jamie McDonald, A.K.A. Adventure Man, also spoke to students about how courage can overcome adversity.

On the Wednesday, there was also a day of celebration with students enjoying a Silent Disco, learning circus skills, a trip to the Trafford Centre, and taking part in team game activities. You can see highlights of the day on the Thornleigh Instagram page

To introduce the week, Thornleigh Salesian College created a video exploring Don Bosco's dream at the age of nine, to mark 200 years since the dream.
